GENERAL MEDICAL SERVICES
Routine
appointments provide for the large majority of clinical
needs.
The following services are more specifically arranged:
Cervical
Cytology
Well-woman screening for all women at three-yearly
intervals from age 25 and five-yearly from age 50 to 65
years.
Family Planning
The
oral contraceptive pill, depot-injection, IUCD
(coil), diaphragm.
Maternity
Ante-natal and post-natal care by the doctor
or midwife.
Baby Clinic
The health visitor sees babies and children under
the age of five years to carry out weight checks
and to discuss problems concerning feeding, sleeping and general welfare.
Immunisation
For children and adults including travel
vaccination.
Yellow Fever Vaccination
We are a designated Yellow Fever Vaccine Centre.
Health Promotion
The nurse offers health promotion including
well-person checks.
Private Consultations
These fall outside the National Health
Service and include examinations for insurance or
medico-legal purposes, non-NHS vaccinations prior to travel abroad and some forms of
certification.

receptionist.
Medico-legal
Court Reports
Dr L A Barbour assesses personal injury
cases for
road traffic accidents and accidents at work
on behalf of solicitors, agents, CICB, CPS
and the Home
Office. He also provides summary reports
for complex injuries where several sub-specialities have been involved.
REPEAT
PRESCRIPTIONS
Repeat prescription slips
are available
for patients on regular medication. When submitting your request please allow 24 hours for collection or enclose a
stamped addressed envelope for return by post.
Prescriptions can be collected directly from the chemist by prior arrangement.
SICKNESS CERTIFICATES
If you are ill for less than 7 days you can obtain
a self-certificate without seeing the doctor.
These certificates are available
from reception or alternatively from your place of work.
DISABLED PATIENTS
The surgery premises have suitable access for
wheelchairs.
